Ians Shoelace Site - How to tie an "Ian Knot"
Every few years some hot-shot "lacer" comes around with a new way to tie your shoes. I've seen it before. In '97 it was Robert Mallory with his "double loop twist" (or the "Robby", if you will). Before that it was Paul Stein in '88 with his "Stein-way", which failed miserably when he ended up having to pay millions to the Steinway piano company after they sued him for trademark infringement and won (Still THE landmark case in shoestory...or lacestory...a standard term has never been settled upon).
Now we have this man named Ian Fieggen (if that's his real name) who wants us to tie an "Ian Knot". I've seen it. All I can say is, the world is not ready for such a bold knot. He has the audacity to make this claim, and I quote: "One day, all shoelaces will be tied this way". Those are some strong words. I'm not sure I want to live in a world where all people tie with an "Ian Knot". I just pray to god that I'm no longer around when that day comes. |
